Our beloved, Nur Mohammad Smriti Mahavidyalaya started its glorious journey since 2008 with the affiliation to the University of Kalyani. This college has long term vision and dream to establish high value, noble idea, rich culture, justice and eradicate prejudice among the students as roll model in the society.
The college offers undergraduate courses in Arts subjects only. It offers honours in Bengali, English, History, Education and Sociology; General/Programme courses in Bengali, History, Education, English, Philosophy and Arabic.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” - Nelson Mandela
It is hoped that this college, harmonizing tradition and modernity, will emerge as a unique institution of higher studies. Quality higher education plays a crucial role in progress and success among students and society. The main aim of establishing this college is to spread collegiate education among the girls, economically challenged and minority community students.
We believe in Swami Vivekananda’s liberal idea that
“Education is not a mere accumulation of information but a life building, man-making, character-making assimilation of ideas”.
Nur Mohammad Smriti Mahavidyalaya family are always aware of their responsibility to properly shape the young minds and to inculcate the sportsmanship like spirit to face and overcome real life challenges. The role of education is not just to provide the means to a job, a livelihood, but also to form a worldview, a perspective towards life.
We have the plan to introduce new science and other application oriented courses as per local students demand. Apart from opening new courses and upgrading existing ones, we have recently started organizing career counselling for the benefit of our students. Apart from that various co-curricular activities are organized on a regular basis, to bring out the talents of our students. As a Principal of the college, I am committed towards this holistic approach to an all-round development of this college and to spread its flavour into society.
